World Number One Tim Price will contest the MARS Maryland CCI5* at Fair Hill aboard the 10-year-old Selle Francais Coup de Coeur Dudevin, a relatively new addition to Tim’s string of horses
“I have always had him earmarked for this competition but getting all the ducks in a row and making sure it was the right decision took a little bit longer” says Tim. “He was my runner-up horse for the World Champs so was in camp with Falco”
The Swiss-born horse is by Top Gun Semilly out of Tiebreak Combehory, who is by Leprince des Bois, one of the few stallions to have successfully competed at 4* (now 5* level) and some may recognise the name as a past ride of Australia’s Chris Burton
Chris’ last season of eventing before he turned to the dark side (show jumping ) concluded with seventh place on Coup De Coeur Dudevin in the 2019 Seven-Year-Old Championship at Le Mondial Du Lion
Jonelle then rode him in 2021 before Tim took over the reins in 2022 with a third place in the Open Intermediate at Burnham Market International kicking the year off well and second place in the CCI4*-L at Millstreet in June showing that the horse has the goods for a 5*
However, Coup De Coeur Dudevin’s stable name of Joker may be what Tim was thinking when, at their last outing, they parted ways on cross country at Little Downham International a couple of weeks ago. Undeterred, Tim opted to proceed to Maryland and, while Tim was busy winning at Boekelo, Coup De Coeur Dudevin found himself whisked across the world with supergroom Kerry Edmens and settling into Maryland life
“He is a terrific cross country horse and I think the track should suit him out there” says Tim
