Well, they did get tractors of a sort! Photo courtesy Bill Levett
Australia’s Bill Levett and Paul Tapner along with New Zealand’s Dan Jocelyn and Jesse Campbell made an assault on the Indoor Cross Country at the 2015 Sweden International Horse Show last night in front of a packed stadium
The popular indoor show with its huge arena in Stockholm was offering a John Deere tractor to the winner which inspired the boys to head to Sweden as the #tractorclub. Sadly though they were outdone by a woman, with Germany’s Ingrid Klimke taking the win and the big green tractor
Ingrid riding Parmenides cleared the indoor track designed by Gerd Heiber in 72.48 but Dan Jocelyn gave it a really crack on Beaucatcher jumping clear in 72.65 seconds to finish second. Last week Dan and Beaucatcher had a good warm-up in the Indoor Derby at Stuttgart, finishing seventh to be in the money, winning 900 Euros
Last year’s winner Niklas Lindbäck finished fifth riding Easy To Love with four faults (75.51) and Britain’s Gemma Tattersall riding Tropique also had four faults for sixth place (76.09)
Bill Levett was riding Ballymore Rich Cat who he previously rode at 3* level but is now usually ridden by his wife Jenny and they were the first combination to tackle to track – always tricky when you have to go first! They finished eighth with one down in 77.68 (Ballymore Rich Cat was probably a little surprised to find himself back up with the big boys after competing at BE100 for a while!) while Paul Tapner and the big grey Kilronan finished seventh
It sounds like they all had a very good time and you can watch great footage from the class here
