One of the ‘stand out’ riders at Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials was the Austrian rider Margit Appelt. Margit was riding the lovely grey horse Space Jet on her first ever visit to Britain and caught the eye at the very first horse inspection in her traditional dress however it was her bright yellow cross country outfit that really got people talking
“I like my yellow breeches, they give me strength and make me feel bright!”
The pair completed the event in 49th place and Margit was delighted to be competing at the big event “It’s really, really lovely here. You never get so many people watching in Europe”
Margit certainly has the right attitude, saying that she realised that she wasn’t competitive in this high level field but “It doesn’t matter as long as I get there. I’ve got a real partnership with my horse and I know that I’m not competitive in this field but I still want to compete and try to get better. Then maybe I will be competitive one day”
Margit trains with Lucinda Green who also competed in her well known yellow. With Lucinda as a coach, her interesting outfits and a great attitude, who knows how far Margit can go?
