Michael Jung wins Indoor Derby at Stuttgart Masters

Michael and fischerRocana FST in a warm up session at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games

While Australian eventers were going head to head in the Exhibition Eventing Grand Final at Equitana, at the Stuttgart Masters in Germany Michael Jung was giving a masterclass in how to jump a similar class indoors.

Riding the nine year old fischerRocana FST Michael won the Preis der Firma Walter Solar - Indoor Derby with a time of 66.81 seconds compared to second placed Mark Todd riding NZB Land Vision (69.51 seconds). Another New Zealander was in third place – Jonelle Price riding Classic Moet was just a smidgeon behind Toddy on 70.12 and her husband Tim took fourth riding Xavier Faer (70.76 seconds)

This is now the seventh time that Michael has won this class which started in 2002 and is one of the highlights of the prestigious Stuttgart German Masters. His WEG and Olympic team mate Sandra Auffarth couldn’t match Michael the Master’s speed – she finished in 12th place riding Blue Frontier while Britain’s Laura Collett riding the youngest horse in the field, the six year old Mr. Bass finished in 11th.

This is how Michael and fischerRocana FST, who was second at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games and Luhmuhlen CCI4* this year, did it. Is there nothing that this pair cannot do?
