It’s that time of year when ‘alternative eventing’ is happening around the world in various formats. We’ve just had the Exhibition Eventing at Equitana in Melbourne, the Indoor Derby at the Stuttgart German Masters and now some of the top eventers are heading to the far north for the first indoor cross country at the Sweden International Horse Show.
Niklas Lindback talked about letting Mr. Pooh have some fun here in our recent interview and Niklas will be joined by Sara Algotsson Ostholt riding Anolanda D, Frida Anderson riding Easy to Love and Ludwig Svennersatal on Franzipan on the Swedish team. Britain, Germany and New Zealand also have teams participating on Thursday evening, the action packed opening night of the show in Solna, just north of the Stockholm city centre
The indoor cross country will be in the main arena which boasts one of the largest LED screens in the world, measuring 75 x 10m which should give the horses plenty to look at! The riders are competing an individual prize of a John Deere tractor as well as a team prize worth over €8,000.
The New Zealand team is on a bit of a roll having placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th at the Stuttgart German Masters and the experienced Sir Mark Todd riding NZB Land Vision, Jonelle Price riding Classic Moet, Tim Price riding Xavier Faer are joined by the team ‘rookie’ Jesse Campbell riding Apart VD Hoefslag Z
Team GB comprises Laura Collett riding Mr Bass, Emily Llewellyn on Carus Royal, Gemma Tattersall on Dinky Inky and Oliver Townend on Cooley Master Class. Germany’s seven time winner at Stuttgart, Michael Jung will not be competing but Kai Ruder, Peter Thomsen, Jens Hoffrogge and Anna Siemer will be flying the flag
