Paul Tapner riding in his traditional red colours at Oasby 2015
Paul Tapner’s traditional red colours (which go back to his pony club days, by the way) fitted in well with the #rednoasby organised by Bede Events at Oasby 1 and may have given him an advantage in Friday’s competition. In addition to last year’s red noses, there is also the ‘Ride in Red’ theme this year where riders are being encouraged to sport the colour red for Sport Relief. Bede Events will be donating £1 from every start fee during the event to Sport Relief and, although Thursday’s competition had to be cancelled due to the wet weather that has been plaguing British events, Friday went ahead as planned and even the sun came out to play!
Paul won the Open Intermediate Section H on Yogi Bear VIII and was clearly delighted to start the season with a win. Paul also finished fourth on Vanir Kamira in the Open Intermediate Section I, won by Oliver Townend riding Karen Shuter’s Black Tie II while Sam Ecroyd won the Open Intermediate Junior U21 riding Opera House
Oasby has live scoring during the event, which continues on Saturday and Sunday, so you can follow along online here and we’ll be back with a full wrap up early next week
