The third day of competition at Le Pouget (FRA) has certainly had some surprises, but so far the leaders from yesterday have held on to their leads. In the CIC2*, Belgian rider Karin Donckers rode a good clear show jumping round to keep one step ahead of the rest of the field with the cross country to come on Sunday. On Saturday afternoon the CIC* did their cross country took place with dressage leader Mathieu Lemoine (FRA) producing a round without penalties.
CIC2* Prix Conseil Général de l'Hérault - The leading trio remain in their place
Karin Donckers (BEL) and her stallion Lamicell Charizard remain at the top the standings thanks to a beautiful show jumping which saw her finish without penalties. Sébastien Poirier (SUI) and Marco Biasia (ITA), who were lying second and third respectively, also jumped clear and remain in contact, sitting a little more than four points behind. Marco is also lying fifth on board Tatchou, just behind the other man shaped this weekend Mathieu Lemoine (FRA) in fourth. Of course with cross country still to come there is still lots of room for the positions to move around.
CIC* Prix de la Ville du Pouget - Mathieu Lemoine (FRA) still in the lead
The cross country course for the 86 combinations in the CIC* proved to jump really well with only one refusal in the whole class. However several riders picked up time penalties with only four managing to finish inside the time. These were Karin Donckers (BEL) with Lady Brown (now third overall), and French riders Claire Maux (FRA) on Acrobaat (fourth), Cesar Belmonte (FRA) riding Quat'Zart Mons (tenth) and Jerome Senaux (FRA) with Davidoff (sixteenth). After Mathieu Lemoine (FRA) had a problem at the water on his first and youngest horse Safran du Pin, he suffered no such problem with Opium de Blinière with whom he held on to his first place. Previously tied in second place with Didier Dhennin (FRA), Benoit Parent (FRA) and Feautibull now stand alone in second place with Karin Donckers third. The French therefore continue to dominate the standings before the final test of show jumping which starts on Sunday at 10:00.
