Vale Vortex

Tim Price’s popular New Zealand thoroughbred Vortex has been put to sleep at the age of 19 due to stomach cancer.

Vortex (known as Ed Junior), started his competition life as a show jumper with Tim but showed promise as an eventer. Together they won the CCI** at the National Three Day Championships in New Zealand and Vortex was then sold to Paula Tonquist “for enough money to put the horses on a plane and head for the UK”. Tim and Vortex were eventually reunited in the UK and competed at 4* level at Badminton, Burghley and Pau.

Most recently Vortex is well known for his back to back wins in the Retraining of Racehorses Championship at Barbury in 2012 and 2013.

Tim has described Vortex as ‘his best friend’ and was a firm favourite at Tim and Jonelle’s Wiltshire property, Mere Farm
