The Week in Eventing

Last week saw a flurry of activity around the eventing world. Here are some snippets from the UK, US and Australia;

America - Red Hills CIC 3*

Phillip Dutton had a blinder of a weekend at Red Hills with lots of horses doing well in lots of classes but the stand out result was for Phillip and his new mount, Aussie horse Mystery Whisper. Previously owned and campaigned by Heath Ryan, we all know that Mystery Whisper does cracking dressage tests (as long as he stays in the arena) and at Red Hills, he showed the Americans what he is capable of by scoring 27.90 in the dressage phase and added only time faults to that score to win the class.

Also, 6th in the Red Hill CIC 3* was Aussie rider Peter Atkins and the famous Henny aka HJ Hampton who shot to fame two years ago with one of the first helmet cam videos. Interestingly, it seems that the FEI have now made a ruling on the use of helmet cam and that their use needs to be sanctioned before being allowed to ride with one. Peter and Henny were the only combination to go double clear on the cross country - obviously Peter was allowed a helmet cam at Red Hills; you can see his ride on the weekend here;
