The ‘off season’ is the perfect time for eventing riders to get married, engaged or have a baby and the latest arrival to the eventing world (and to the world in general) is Finnley John Deacon
Born on the 3rd January 2019, Finn is the son of Australian Olympic silver medallist Megan Jones and her husband James Deacon, and is the latest in a string of ‘born in the purple’ children of top class riders. Piggy French, Padraig McCarthy, Tim and Jonelle Price are some of those to have had children recently and, if their successes last year are anything to go by, Megan is in for a great 2019!
Megan imported some talented young horses from Europe in 2018 (more about them coming up) but then discovered that she was pregnant, putting the start of their competition career on hold for a little while. We’re looking forward to seeing these new stars out and about in 2019 and of course to meeting Finn, who already seems to have the Hallmark (pardon the pun) of the Jones/Deacon cool …….
It is a bit of a tradition for Megan and James to have a smooch after each phase at big competitions but it looks like it is going to have to be a three way cuddle from now on!
