Wendy and Dancer jumping clear at Badminton 2014
Wendy Schaeffer sadly tweeted this morning “Last ride on #DancerPrancer” but it is not all sadness for Wendy, parting with the 15 year old Koyuna Sun Dancer that has been sold to a rider from Qatar to campaign at the Asian Games in Korea in September.
Wendy says that “While it is sad to sell him when I have had him since he was 15 months old, it has been really rewarding to watching Saeed ride him and to have them appreciate how well trained he is. I'm a proud Mum really! My boy went out on top as the best jumping horse in the sport and will now have far greater longevity in the sport by stepping back down to 1* before coming back up”
Koyuna Sun Dancer recently competed with success at two of the UK’s biggest events – show jumping at the Hickstead Derby (more about Wendy’s experiences there to come) and the CCI4* at Badminton Horse Trials where they finished twelfth. Koyuna Sun Dancer excelled in the very tricky jumping conditions at Badminton where he was the only horse in the 2014 field to complete the event with a clear jumping round in both the cross country and show jumping phases. In 2012 Wendy and Dancer finished ninth in the CCI4* at Luhmuhlen and they won their home 4* event, the Australian International 3 Day Event in Adelaide, in 2010
