William Fox-Pitt retires Macchiato

William Fox-Pitt has announced the retirement of his 2008 Luhmuhlen 4* winner Macchiato. On his web site William says,

“We have taken the decision this week to retire Macchiato.  Michael and Jane Kier and I felt that he has done so much for us over the years and that he owed us nothing.

The time feels right to retire him while he is still fit and well and we are very happy that he will enjoy a busy retirement with Lucy Jones, who used to look after him when she was part of the team here.

He has been the most brilliant horse, far exceeding all of our expectations.  He has completed seven CCI****’s, winning Luhmuhlen in 2008, and three CCI***’s, winning at Blair & Bramham in 2007.  He also won the Intermediate Championships at Gatcombe in 2006 and has accumulated 1241 BE points in a career spanning nine years.”

Macchiato came to William through the Australian event horse agent, Sharon Ridgway. Sired by Octane Macchiato was bred in Argentina, raced in Australia and taken to the UK, all by the time he was five years old.
