The Canadian Eventing Committee announced yesterday the 2012 Canadian National Eventing Team. Canada was one of the five countries to secure an Olympic berth through their performance at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, along with New Zealand, United States, Germany, and Belgium. The Canadian short list, which is comprised of horse/rider combinations competing at 3 and 4* are the most likely to represent Canada at the London 2012 Olympics. The official release describes the Short List as; “The 2012 Short List is comprised of horse/rider combinations which, have proven through their results at CCI/CCIO/CH 3 star and 4 star competitions within the time period designated under general regulations, they are successfully representing Canada in international competition as individuals and/or team members”

Strangely, the horse Smart Move is listed with Lisa Marie Fergusson, however Smart Move sadly died in December after being hit by a car. The long list identifies combinations showing promise for the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy. LONG LIST
