The Australian Showjumping Championships kick off at Werribee Park in Victoria today
The 52nd running of the Australian Showjumping Championships starts today at Werribee Park in Victoria and runs until Sunday 23rd.
The Championships commenced at Deniliquin in 1960 on the NSW Riverina when the winner was Kevin Bacon on Ocean Foam and since then a competition has been held each year except 1981 in various locations throughout Australia. During the four days of competition, three showjumping arenas will be providing spectators with plenty of action and there is over $60,000 in prize money on offer.
The Course Designer for the Australian National Championships in 2012 is Franz Madl from Austria.
Franz designed the CSIO4* Linz in May this year which was used as a selection and preparation event for London Olympics 2012 by the Australian, Canadian, Ukraine and Japanese teams. Franz was invited to design the Australian National Championships as part of Equestrian Australia‘s program of bringing international Course Designers to Australia to help develop both the horses and riders here.
