Isn’t it funny how you don’t hear about someone for a while then suddenly their name comes up several times?
In our interview with Murray Lamperd last week, he mentioned that he may be going to stay with Scott Keach in Florida when he heads over to compete at Rolex Kentucky. Scott of course competed in eventing for Australia at the Seoul Olympics in 1988 riding Trade Commissioner and we recently had a photo of this beautifully kitted out team
It seems that Scott’s forte is now show jumping and this weekend he won the $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix at HITS Ocala in Florida riding a young horse, CoCo.

Scott and CoCo, owned by Anne Quanbeck, beat a field of 34 for the win and he was delighted with the nine-year-old Holsteiner mare that was imported from Europe only a year and a half ago;
“The hardest part for us was choosing to jump the water, because she [CoCo] just hasn’t seen a lot of it yet. She has been jumping really well lately, getting some grand prix experience and I was really happy with her today – she felt like she just knew what she was doing and the course suited her really well.”

The win means that Scott, who is still an Australian citizen, has qualified to compete in the $100,000 Sullivan GMC Truck Grand Prix, presented by Great American Insurance Group, at the end of the HITS Ocala circuit.
“If she keeps improving, she may even have a shot at the [Zoetis] $1 Million Grand Prix in Saugerties, but time will tell,” he said.
No wonder he changed to showjumping!
