“These unprecedented times has meant there are still some dates that need to be confirmed and others that may be subject to change due to the uncertainty that the Covid 19 pandemic brings. We are sharing the calendar with the dates confirmed so far as we wanted to make sure that everyone had access to the calendar before Christmas so they can start planning their 2022 campaigns. Additional dates will be updated to the document as soon as we have them, with the final calendar being confirmed in its entirety in January” says British Eventing
The Calendar includes returning favourites such as Area Festivals, the Team Challenge and Novice Masters as well as the introduction of Intermediate Masters and the new venue for the BE80 Championships at Bramham Park
Area Festivals
The Area Festivals provide the pathway to the National Championships for grassroots riders – at Badminton for BE90 and BE100 and at Bramham for BE80 (starting from 2023, see below). The intention is to introduce a fifth Area Festival into the South West region in 2023, once the existing four have become established with sufficient demand.
Area Festivals confirmed for 2022:
Week 11 (14-15 May) – Firle Place, Sussex
Week 23 (6-7 August) – Glamis Castle, Angus (TBC)
Week 25 (19-21) August – Frickley Park, South Yorkshire
Week 28 (10-11) September – Chillington Hall, Staffordshire
2022 BE80 Championships – Bramham
The BE80 Championships will take place at Bramham, West Yorkshire in 2022 (Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 June). For 2022 only, the route to these Championships will be through Direct Qualification.
After the 2022 Championships the qualification for 2023 will be via the National Qualifier classes at the Area Festivals.
Novice Masters
After a successful pilot, the Novice Masters will continue for 2022 and will run at the following venues:
13-15 May – Floors Castle International, Roxburghshire
8-10 July – Barbury Castle International, Wiltshire
6-7 August – Little Downham (2), Cambridgeshire
17-18 September – Allerton Park, North Yorkshire
8-9 October – Weston Park, Shropshire
Intermediate Masters
Following the success of the Novice Masters, an Intermediate Masters will be piloted in 2022. This is another concept put forward by the Rider Working Group which runs along similar lines to the Novice Masters but at Open Intermediate level.
The venues for these new classes will be confirmed in the near future. However, they are provisionally set as:
21-22 May – Rockingham Castle International, Leicestershire
2-5 June – Belsay International, Northumberland
17-19 June – Nunney International, Somerset
