An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at Aston-Le-Walls (1) 2019 and Unaffiliated (1)

Aston-Le-Walls (1) is our first British Eventing fixture of 2019 and we have all fingers crossed that this year it will go ahead. In 2018 and 2017 it was cancelled due to the weather conditions but in 2018 they made up for it by adding an additional fixture, Aston-Le-Walls XX  in April. If you are looking to see how the courses ride, our videos from that event should give you a good feel

The facilities at Washbrook Farm, home of the Taylor family, are top notch, which is why the British team often train there. At their first event in March the show jumping and the majority of the dressage will be on the all-weather arenas, which are enormous, and provide fantastic footing for the start of the season when things can be a tad wet

Aston-Le-Walls (1) runs on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd for the BE classes and is followed on Monday 4th by the Unaffiliated classes running at 90cm, 100cm and 110cm – more details on the Unaffiliated here

The cross country course designed by Nigel Taylor is always educational, being designed not only for these events but also as a training facility. The terrain is generally flat so good use is made of man-made banks and the courses are varied with well-presented fences at all levels. There will be new fences for 2019 and, if the weather plays fair this year we should see a host of Britain’s top eventers plus a few internationals having their first hit out of the year

At the April 2018 replacement event, Aston-Le-Walls XX, two members of the British gold medal winning team, Piggy French and Ros Canter, both had young horses here and went away with wins in the Novice section. Here’s Ros and Rehy Royal Diamond DJ who won the Open Novice on their dressage score of 25.5
