The Monart Sale, dubbed “The only sale run by riders for riders” – is on again next month on 7th & 8th November 2017
The sale presents a selection of Ireland’s eventing horses from 3 years of age and up selected by a panel of 4* riders, Polly Jackson (GB), Niall Griffin (IRL) and Bill Levett (AUS) and vetted by Olympic team vet Marcus Swail.
The horses are sold by auction at the Monart Equestrian Centre on the outskirts of the picturesque town of Enniscorthy in County Wexford, just 75 miles south of Dublin. The Centre is just five minutes from the Monart 5* Resort and Spa – another reason to visit!
The auction catalogue and lot videos are now online and here is one that caught our eye;
Shannondale Mario, 3 year old chestnut gelding
Full brother to William Fox-Pitt’s Shannondale Percy and Ros Canter’s Shannondale Nadia, 2016 Burghley YEH Reserve Champion
His full sister, Shannondale Mari commanded the top price of €35,000 at last year's auction
There are plenty of Monart graduates now making doing well on the circuit including Bill Levett’s Lassban Diamond Lift, Piltown Colours (who just won his first Intermediate at Oasby 2), Paul Tapner’s Prince Mayo, Mark Kyle’s Gortfadda Diamond who recently took third place in the CCI2* at Osberton ridden by Emilie Chandler and Monart’s Masterpiece ridden by Flora Harris
