Great Britain’s NAF Young Rider team are in team gold position after the dressage phase of the at the FEI Young Rider European Championships in Fontainebleau, France with individual silver and bronze medal positions held by two GB Young Riders and the British Racesafe Junior team is just two penalties off the medals going into cross country
Young Rider European Eventing Championship
Going into tomorrow’s cross country the British team currently occupy the gold medal position in the team competition on a score of 80.0 penalties, but there is absolutely no room for error with the German team just a fraction of a penalty behind them in silver on 80.1 and France in bronze on 81.9.
Getting underway on Thursday 12th July, team trailblazer for the NAF Young Riders, Sam Ecroyd, got GB off to a flying start to sit in the silver medal position individually on Adam Gillespie’s 14 year old gelding Kasseedorf with a score of 25.70. After two days of competition there are just 1.6 penalties between the British combination and current leader, Germany’s Emma Brüssau on 24.1 penalties.
Hot on their heels is the second team member for the NAF Young Riders, Bubby Upton on Rachel Upton’s Cola III, who posted a score of 25.8 penalties and sit in bronze individually. Making her first appearance at Young Rider level, Bubby will be looking to emulate her European Championship success from 12 months ago which saw her taking the individual gold medal in the Junior competition.
Individual rider for the NAF squad Mollie Summerland also kicked off her campaign in style to score 27.4 and holds eighth place on her own nine year old gelding Charly van Ter Heiden.
Third and fourth team riders, Yasmin Ingham and Alex Kennedy, share a score of 28.5 penalties but with a difference in the collective marks Alex Kennedy currently lies in 11th place on John and Andrea Kennedy’s Lissangle Cavaletto B with Yasmin in 12th place on Edwin and Sue Davies and Janette Chinn's Rehy DJ.
Lizzie Baugh, also riding as an individual, kept up the sub-30 streak on her own 10 year old gelding Quarry Man with a score of 29.5 penalties and sit in 18th place.

Junior European Eventing Championship
Germany holds the top spot in the individual and team championships with Anna Lena Schaaf riding Fairytale 39 maintaining her lead on 24.6 and the German team leading on a total score of 80.7
British team debutant Heidi Coy made her mark on the Junior European Championships for the British Racesafe team and currently leads the Brits on a score of 28.3 penalties for sixth place on Royal Fury.
First in the arena on day two of the dressage, Leilia Paske and her own Fernhill First Friend sit in 13th place with a score of 29.6 penalties with Georgia Bartlett posting 33.3 penalties on Spano de Nazca for 37th place.
Completing their test on Thursday afternoon, team rider Sasha Hargreaves sits just 0.1 penalties behind Leilia with a score of 29.7 on her striking chestnut gelding Playtime to hold 16th place with Elicia Miller scoring 40.5 penalties on A Sunny Bay for 58th place.
In the team competition Great Britain lie just outside the medals in fourth place with a score of 91.3, Germany currently have the gold position on 80.7, France silver on 85.1 and Netherlands bronze with 89.3 penalties.
Cross country starts with the Junior competition at 10.15am (BST) followed by the Young Riders at 2.30pm (BST).
