Yogi Breisner will step down after Rio
The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) is seeking a new Eventing Performance Manager to replace Yogi Breisner when the position becomes vacant later this year.
The current Bristish Eventing Performance Manager, Yogi Breisner, who has elected to step down after the Rio Olympic Games, has said that "Having decided after London 2012 that I would step down as Eventing Performance Manager following the Rio 2016 Olympics, now is the time to start the process of appointing my successor. However my full concentration and focus remains on our preparations for Rio”.
Yogi has played a key role in the evolution of Great Britain’s Eventing success over the last 17 years.
Yogi added; “When I took up the position of Performance Manager in 1999 it was the early days of Lottery Funding for equestrian sport; it is incredible to see how much it has developed since. I have been very privileged to have been part of that evolution and to have worked with some world-leading athletes, horses and practitioners during that time. We have some very exciting British combinations available for selection for Rio and I am really looking forward to the opportunity, once again, to work together with such a professional team".
Equestrian Performance Director Dan Hughes commented; “Yogi has played a central role in the success of the Lottery-funded World Class Programme since 1999 and his knowledge, experience and advice will be sorely missed. However he remains absolutely focused, as we all are, on winning medals at the Rio 2016 Olympics at what promises to be a wonderful first Games to be held in South America. We are inviting expressions of interest in the role now so that we maximise our chances of attracting the very best candidates from around the globe, although interviews and selection will not start until later in the year after we return from Rio”.
The PM role is a key part of the team led by the BEF’s Performance Director; the successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the design and delivery of the WCP’s Eventing Podium Programme including the provision of coaching and other specialist support. Consisting of up to 12 elite athletes, and a number of dedicated coaching and support practitioners, the programme’s specific objective is to win individual and team medals at the Olympics and other Championships.

Whilst expressions of interest will be accepted until 30 April 2016, the first stage of the interview process will not take place until October 2016 to allow the current team to focus on the Olympics.
