An Eventful Life filmed all competitors on cross country at
Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2022
On a cross country day day that saw just one horse come home clear inside the time (another legendary mare, the incomparable Classic Moët), Piggy March and Vanir Kamira stopped the clock just one second over the time to add 0.4, good enough to move into the lead and hold it in the final phase to win the 2022 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials
“She really ran home, bless her heart!” Piggy smiled at the finish “I kicked her and she was like, ‘Come on, Mum, lets go!” and as long as I’m sat on her tail, literally on the buckle end and you have to be, there is no forward movement at all and just make sure you stay there for two strides afterwards because she’s so on her forehand that if I’m slightly in front of her we could roly-poly on landing.
So, it’s just learning, getting into her groove and trusting it which obviously took a long time to do but she wants to do it, she wanted to run, she’s an amazing little horse, I am so proud of her. She’s given me, for my career, the best days of my life, she’s given the Dickens family that own her the best days of their lives. Horses and days like this are about family days, important days that matter and I think that horse has given us so much and also so much for the sport.”
