Chantal Siddle and Kodaline head out on cross country at Allerton Park
Do you have a great story about your cross country video? We'd love to hear it ..................
Like many keen riders, Chantal Siddle enjoyed a good year of eventing in 2016. But the amazing thing about Chantal’s eventing year was that it was her comeback from near-death in 2015
Chantal suffered a heart attack on cross country whilst competing her horse Kodaline at Moreton Morrell Horse Trials in May 2015. After falling from her horse she was kicked in the head as she lay unconscious on the ground and suffered four cardiac arrests
Luckily she was able to be resuscitated by ambulance staff before being flown to hospital where she underwent heart surgery and spent three weeks in a coma, during which time she developed septicaemia and pneumonia.
Less than one year later she was back eventing. We first saw Chantal at Kelsall Hill where she was a sponsor of the event and then saw her ride at many events during the year including a lovely cross country ride at Allerton Park where she and Kodaline finished in sixth place in the Novice (watch their cross country round here). They then finished their year with their first CCI1* start at Osberton International
It was a remarkable comeback and we hope to be watching them at many more of our cross country video events in 2017
