Sandra Auffarth and Viamant Du Matz on their way to a win
After a day of dramatic twists and turns in the SAP Cup, it was eventually Sandra Auffarth (GER) and Viamant du Matz who took the top spot on the Individual podium at Aachen with a score of 29.5.
Australia’s Andrew Hoy riding Vassily de Lassos took silver on 30.5, and Tom McEwen (GBR) on Toledo de Kerser finished in third on 32.8 after some changes to the score board. Originally Michael Jung riding fischerChipmunk had been declared the winner but, after deliberation by the Ground Jury, was deemed not to have passed through the flags at Fence 14 and incurred 15 penalties, as TD Marcin Konarski explains
This gave the win to Sandra Auffarth
“It’s important for me and for the the sport that the decision is fair” explains Sandra “When the decision is fair for Michi, I’m super happy with second place but when the decision is fair that I’m the winner, I’m even more happy!”
