The CHI De Geneve, taking place from December 6th – 10th at Palexpo, Geneva, Switzerland, features some of the biggest names in the show jumping world but one of its very popular highlights is the CIX Indoor Arena Eventing.
Friday evening’s indoor cross-country event, presented by local newspaper La Tribune de Genève, attracted some of the stars of eventing, including Germany’s three-time Olympic champion Michael Jung, but it was Belgium’s Lara De Liedekerke-Meier that took the CHF 5,000 top prize, relegating Michael to second place while the Netherlands’ Janneke Boonzaaijer took third.
Swiss riders, Mélody Johner, Nadja Minder and Robin Godel, who won in 2021 on Grandeur de Lully CH, along with France’s Karim Laghouag and Astier Nicolas, the British duo of Alex Bragg and Kirsty Chabert and Ireland’s Cathal Daniels were also among those that tackled the challenging indoor course designed by Switzerland’s Peter Hasenboehler.
Run through two arenas the 1,800m long course comprising jumps, ditches and natural obstacles, including a lake and bank, needed a fast and accurate ride in the optimum time of 148 seconds. Lara came the closest on board the seven-year-old bay mare Q Knock For Me to win in 150.11, just ahead of Michael riding his wife’s Ignatz H (150.13)
