New Zealand’s Clarke Johnstone is on a roll at Lignieres in France, where he leads both the CCI4*-S and the CCI2*-L.
Clarke leads the CCI4*-S riding his bronze medal winning World Championship horse Menlo Park after dressage and show jumping on a score of 27 ahead of France’s Donatien Schauly riding Dgin Du Pestel Mili (29.9) and Julie Simonet riding Sursumcord’or (30.1).
Clarke also has Aces High in fifth place in this class while fellow Antipodeans Kevin McNab, Jonelle Price, Tayla Mason and Megan Jones also sit in the top 20.
It is Clarke’s new horse De Pleasure that leads the CCI3*-L (26.7) ahead of Switzerland’s Nadja Minder on Toblerone and Michael Jung riding Jim Knopf P (by the same dam sire as Clarke’s horse, For Pleasure) with the show jumping phase yet to come.
Tim Price riding Dromgurrihy Gold is in seventh place and Clarke is also in the top ten riding Domasco
More Kiwis and Aussies are in the mix, with Bill Levett, Lissa Green and Jonelle Price to mention a few, but it is Team Price’s USA member, Cosby Green whoc is based at Chedington with Tim and Jonelle who is in a strong position in the CCI4*-L. This class is led by the maestro himself, Michael Jung riding fischerChipmunk who had a commanding lead after dressage with a score of 19.4 and could afford to add 6.4 time on Saturday’s cross country.
Australia’s Bill Levett was the next closest after dressage with a score of 30.9 but sadly had a problem on cross country while Cosby and Highly Suspicious, who have re-routed from Blenheim, stormed around the cross country for a double clear round to sit in second place (32.4)
Cosby is also in 14th place of the CCI3*-L riding Cooley Seeing Magic while Michael also sits in first and second places of the CCI2*-S.
