25 year old Victoria Hanson has produced the winning design for Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials Final Fence Design competition with her Final Mount fence proving the most popular in the public vote.
Victoria’s entry was one of ten shortlisted submissions selected by the competition’s judges; Event Director Hugh Thomas, Media Director Julian Seaman, and Badminton’s new Cross Country Course Designer, Eric Winter
The ten shortlisted designs were chosen as ‘attractive, original, safe and affordable ideas’ and the winning Mitsubishi Final Mount design will now be transformed into an actual fence by Olympic course builders, the Willis Bros. Victoria will be invited to attend the unveiling of the fence in April at Badminton’s invitation-only event preview day where it will take its place as the final fence at this year’s cross country course.
“The challenge now will be finding a piece of timber big enough to carve the saddle out of!” says Eric Winter, who will be designing the iconic Badminton course for the first time in 2017. The new course is expected to provide new challenges and spectator views for this year’s Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials which runs from 3rd – 7th May 2017
