The 2023 FEI Eventing European Championships for Young Riders and Juniors has kicked off at the Centro Militare di Equitazione in Montelibretti (ITA)
The first day of dressage took place on Thursday with half of the competing combinations (38 of 75 Juniors and 24 of 48 Young Riders) completing their tests.
Germany’s Smilla Maline Philipp riding Sir Boggles (23.50) leads the way in the Junior Championship (wtach their test at 3:13:18 in the video below) with Italian rider Leopoldo Petrini on board Emerald Jonny, a horses started by Piggy March, in second place on 24.80.
France’s Jeanne Brunel riding Dexter Z holds third place while Anna Price riding Keep Happy is the top placed British combination in fourth place.

Young Rider Championship
There is a German leader also in the Young Riders provisional ranking as Ben Philipp Knaak on Cocolares topped Thursday’s dressage section with a score of 27.50 but Britain’s Georgina Herrling riding Cooley Now Or Never is close behind on 27.90 and France is again in the mix with Charlotte Bordas riding Firewall Des Aucels Z in third (28.6)
The second part of the dressage tests will start on Friday at 8:00 am (Juniors) and will follow at 3pm (Young Riders), resulting in the provisional rankings both for the individual and team competitions.
Cross country starts on Saturday September 16th at 9:00 (Juniors) while the Young Riders will be in action at 2pm. On Sunday September 17th, the final jumping test will start at 11am (Juniors) and 2 pm (Young Riders), followed by the medal ceremony.
