Hotfoot it to Burnham Market this weekend

The finishing touches are being put to the cross country courses, tentage has been erected, and show jumps are moving in to place ahead of this weekend's Barefoot Estates Burnham Market International Horse Trials.

Top riders from across the country will be heading to North Norfolk, most notably William Fox-Pitt who will be making his first competitive appearance since his serious fall at Le Lion d'Angers last autumn.

Andrew Nicholson will also be throwing his hat in to the ring having recently returned to the sport following his equally life threatening fall at Gatcombe last August. Andrew has six horses entered including the Badminton bound Nereo, while William has four – among them last year's Badminton winner Chilli Morning and his entry this year, Parklane Hawk.

Oliver Townend will be the man to beat in the CIC3*, which this year forms the first leg of the new Shearwater Insurance Tri-Star Grand Slam. He will contest this top class with two previous winners, Armada and Black Tie II, as well as the current British Intermediate Champion Note Worthy and last autumn's Ballindenisk CCI3* winner Cooley SRS.

Course designer Alec Lochore and builder Mark Watler have produced another great set of courses for competitors ranging from BE100 level to CIC3*, and with Storm Katie having now run out of steam the stage is set for a successul and competitive weekend.
