“It’s like poetry watching her ride and to get to watch her every day, was like a dream come true” says Susie Berry of Piggy French, her boss and mentor of several years
But the time has come for 24-year-old Susie, who won team gold and bronze at Young Rider and Junior European Championships and represented Ireland at a Senior Nations Cup last year, to fly the coop and she has just moved into her new yard in Northamptonshire, just 20 minutes away from Piggy
The new yard, built on the site of an old dairy, has all the facilities that Susie could need and has been made possible by the support of Ron Pearson who, we’re delighted to report, tracked Susie down through An Eventful Life cross country videos!
Susie also has a great team of horses ready for the 2020 season thanks to her English owners - “I actually don’t have any Irish owners, they’re all English but many have been involved with Irish riders before and it seems that, once they get a taste of Irish ownership, they stick with it!”
Coming up soon in our 4* feature article - Hear about Susie’s new yard and find out more about her plans for 2020, which she hopes will include a 5* start 'if all goes to plan'
In the meantime, here's a throwback to the start of the 2019 season with Susie and Ringwood LB tackling the CCI4* at the last ever Belton International
