Australia’s Tokyo silver medallist Kevin McNab was on a whistle-stop visit to the Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event where he last competed in 2021 to take sixth place riding Scuderia 1918 Don Quidam
This time he was visiting to support US rider Cornelia Dorr, who spent time, along with her partner Jacob Fletcher, based with Kevin in the UK.
Samantha Clark caught up for a quick chat with Kevin, and we were quite surprised to discover that he would be riding at Cirencester Park (2) the next day in England! And he obviously did not suffer from jet-lag, placing fourth and sixth in the Open Intermediate and Novice riding Miss Pepperpot and Sumas Tina Turner!
The Monday at Cirencester Park (2) was an additional day added to try and give competitors more chance of runs after a very up and down Spring, as Kevin explained, and two top lady riders took out the honours in the Advanced classes
Piggy March added to Nicola Wilson’s good weekend at Kentucky, where her past ride JL Dublin took second place, by piloting Coolparks Sarco to a win in the Advanced Section O and also took third in the Advanced Section N on board Halo
That Section was won by Kitty King riding her old favourite, Ceylor LAN. Kitty, who will be riding Vendredi Biats at Badminton this week, said on socials that “He was fantastic cross country and gave me a perfect ride, which was just what I needed before Badminton next week. With lots of events being abandoned I was feeling a lacked some match practice, so it was great to blow the cobwebs away”
We’ll be back with a full report from Cirencester Park (2) and cross country videos later this week, but in the meantime, check out the globe trotting Kevin McNab just a few hours after Kentucky on course at Cirencester Park!
