Let's talk Belsay with Laura de Wesselow

The fences are changing, the arena has been updated so what can riders expect from Belsay International Horse Trials when it runs?

Set to be held on 28th – 30th May 2020, the entries for Belsay Horse Trials should have opened today, Saturday 18th April, but sadly the event is looking to be postponed due to the current Covid-19 situation

The undulating Northumberland hills were to be the backdrop for this year’s British Pony Championships, the highlight of many young British event rider’s calendars, and the event was set to host its first International classes

“When we all get eventing again, everybody’s going to be a bit over excited and hopefully it’s going to be a real celebration of everything that’s best about this event,” said Laura de Wesselow, organiser of Belsay Horse Trials.

On a lovely, sunny day earlier this year Kelly Aitkin caught up with Laura to chat about the changing plans and a new and improved cross country course for Belsay’s event, whenever that may be held

“When we do go ahead, there’s so much to look forward to at Belsay and I just can’t wait to get going”
