Mollie Summerland and Charly Van Ter Heiden at Boekelo
The British Eventing Britannia 4* League, a league for British riders who have not started for Team GB at a senior European or World Championships, or an Olympic Games, has been topped by 21 year old Mollie Summerland and Charly Van Ter Heiden in 2019
Mollie and her stunning 10-year-old German bred warmblood amassed a total of 152 BE points at British 4* classes and FEI Nations Cup classes, including a ninth place in the CCI4*-L Nations Cup leg in Boekelo, second place at Barbury International and third place at Belton International
The placing at Belton also won her the Polly Phillips’ Memorial Trophy, awarded to the highest placed British rider that has not competed in a Senior team, and Mollie told us at the time that Charly Van Ter Heiden is just ‘touching on what he is capable of …’
Richard Coney and Kananaskis took the runner up spot with a total of 138 points, after strong placings at Bramham International, Boekelo Nations Cup and Saracen Horse Feeds Houghton International.
We spoke to Richard at Houghton International where he won team bronze on his debut as part of a Senior British Team at a Nations Cup competition and found out more about this young rider who is still at University and his 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse
Emilie Chandler and Maria Doel’s Gortfadda Diamond complete the top three in the Britannia 4* league for 2019 on 136 points, only two points behind Richard.
They enjoyed a good year but a late season win in the CCI4*-L at the Land Rover Blair Castle International catapulted them into the top three with an additional 110 points for the win. We spoke to Emilie after their win
Sadly the 4*-L was the only class we didn’t film at Blair Castle so we can’t show you their ride but here is Emilie and Gortfadda Diamond on cross country at Bramham International
