Hartpury International 2019 - find out more here
It was a long day of cross country at the NAF International Hartpury Horse Trials but this interview with Piggy French and Pippa Funnell made waiting for the press conference well worth while
Piggy had a very good day at the office, taking the win in the NAF Five Star Magic CCI4*-S on board Quarrycrest Echo (Red), the only combination to finish on their dressage score, as well as taking second place on Brookfield Inocent, the second fastest horse of the day on Eric Winter’s testing course.
There were several holds throughout the day and, as mentioned in the interview, both Tina Cook and Tom Jackson had falls on course. Tina took a tumble from Billy The Red at the very last fence on course and Tom is reported to have a possible broken leg following a fall from his last ride of the day on Newmarket Prospect
Pippa Funnell and Billy The Biz
During this time Pippa was held on course riding Billy The Biz, the leader after dressage and show jumping and they added 10 time penalties for fifth while her earlier ride on MGH Grafton Street took third place. Alex Bragg riding King of the Mill squeezed in between Pippa’s two rides in fourth place and Tom Jackson may have been absent from the presentation, but he received rousing applause in his absence for sixth place on Pencos Crown Jewel
We’ll have a full report, more interviews and details on how the Australians fared coming up in the next few days but first enjoy watching Piggy and Pippa (or is that Pippa and Piggy?)
