France’s Karim Laghouag and Triton Fontaine have found form at just the right time to win the CCI4*-S at Haras De Jardy in France

Karim and his bronze medal winning Tokyo horse, Triton Fontaine, won the 4* at Jardy on their dressage score of 30.8 ahead of Roman Sans riding Unetoile De La Serre (33.1) and Luc Chateau riding Bastia De L’Ebat (34.1)

Despite the forecast hot weather conditions at Jardy in coming days, a field of 58 competitors contested the 4*. The class completed after cross country on Saturday morning after the organisers made changes to the schedule to avoid the worst of the high temperatures

Triton Fontaine had uncharacteristic problems on cross country at the Pratoni Test Event and Chaumont En Vexin in May, which prompted Karim to rest the 15-year-old Selle Français gelding whilst they investigated his lack of form.

But it seems that Triton has bounced right back, moving from third after dressage into the winning spot with double clear jumping rounds and putting him right back in the eye of selectors for Pratoni 2022
