The second week of the Prosecco Tour at Montelibretti, Italy hosted the first leg of the 2023 FEI Eventing Nations Cup Series, which has started a few months earlier than normal, in March rather than May.
This year also sees an important incentive for teams not yet qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, as the Nations Cup Series offers an extra opportunity for one team to qualify for Paris 2024.
Belgium is one of the countries yet to qualify a team for Paris and they have started their campaign well, taking top spot at the Nations Cup, Montelbretti.
The Belgian team of Jarno Verwimp riding Mahalia (second individually), Lara de Liedekerke-Meier riding Ducati d'Arville (fourth individually), Karin Donckers riding Fletcha Van't Verahof (eighth individually) and Senne Vervaecke with Google Van Alsingen (15th individually) took the team win and first points of the season.
The home nation Italy took second place and Switzerland claimed third place on the podium.
Austria’s Lea Siegl took first place individually with Fighting Line while Australia’s Bill Levett riding Huberthus AC took sixth place.
More to come from across the classes at Montelibretti soon …
