Mike Etherington-Smith had a year of getting know the Luhmuhlen course in 2017 when he took over from Captain Mark Phillips but now he is working on changes to the course with a view to the FEI European Championships being held here in 2019 with quite a lot of earthworks underway at the moment
Changes are being made to the Land Rover Water complex, which is jumped twice, to make it bigger and create flatter areas around it, enabling the designer and course builders to produce some different questions for the riders in 2018 and the DHL Water is also getting a make-over
"I want to give the horses and the riders a chance to show what they can do rather than what they can't do" explains Mike
