Tim Price and Ascona M will be back at Luhmuhlen to defend their title
The second CCI5* of the 2021 season is set to go ahead with the organising committee of TGL Turniergesellschaft Luhmühlen mbH rising to the challenge of running the event in a COVID-19 world.
“Organizing an event like Luhmühlen always comes with a great deal of responsibility. The pandemic magnifies the challenge, as everyone's health is our absolute priority. Running the event wouldn’t be feasible without our long-term partners and we’re immensely grateful for their ongoing support”, explains event director Julia Otto.
The event is currently planned to go ahead without spectators
“We’re all going to miss the atmosphere created by audience and fans. Especially after the wonderful year we had in 2019, with the classic June event and the European Championships in August in front of a large crowd, you can hardly imagine Luhmühlen without spectators"
"The trade stands, which usually provide a special backdrop, will also be missing this year, but we are doing our best create a nice atmosphere for the riders on site”, says Julia Otto.
This year’s Longines Luhmühlen Horse Trials offer riders and their horses a chance to prepare for the Olympic Games and the European Championships and the current entry list reflects that.
The in-form New Zealand power couple Tim and Jonelle Price headline the CCI5* with Tim riding the 2019 winner here, Ascona M, as well as Ringwood Sky Boy while Jonelle is also riding a past Luhmuhlen winner in Faerie Dianimo
British riders include the World Champions Ros Canter and Allstar B and her team mate Tom McEwen on Figaro Van Het Broekxhof, the World Number One Oliver Townend with Trgilder and MHS King Joules and Piggy March with 2019 Badminton winner Vanir Kamira and Brookfield Inocent
Four riders are entered from Australia with Sammi Birch, Chris Burton, Andrew Hoy and Kevin McNab bringing ten horses between them
