Oliver Townend has had another outstanding year in 2022
Oliver Townend tops the British Eventing Rider Leaderboard at the end of 2022 with 1861 points, a massive 438 points ahead of the World Number One Tim Price (1423 points) and Tom McEwen in third (1176 points) to win the Tony Collings Memorial Trophy, presented to the British rider gaining the highest number of points on any horse or horses
Oliver last topped the British Eventing Rider League in 2018 and it is the seventh time since 2004 that he has taken the top spot at the end of the season
After taking a gold medal at the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021, Oliver started 2022 with a new collaboration with Caunton Stud.
In a move akin to Formula 1, Oliver became the 'Official Rider' of the Nottingham stud, owned by Victoria Wright and her Father Sir John Peace, home to top breeding stallions and young competition horses
During the 2022 season Oliver competed several of the Sir John Peace owned horses, along with many other up and coming horses in his team, with great success enabling his to amass points at all levels of British Eventing competition
The most successful of these young horses were Crazy Du Loir (winner of the Floors Castle International CCI3*-S and Houghton International 3*-L), En Taro De Vernier (winner of the Belsay International CCI2*-S), Caunton French Exchange (winner Chatsworth International Novice) and Finley Du Loir (winner Osberton International CCI2*-L, British Novice Championship and Floors Castle CCI2*-S) - all "Ones to Watch" in 2023
