Australia’s Bill Levett and Kevin McNab have taken the 4* classes at Millstreet International Horse Trials in Ireland last weekend

While the Highlands welcomed many riders and spectators at Blair Castle in Scotland, the Millstreet International Horse Trials (26th – 29th August 2021) also continued as scheduled across the Green Glens’ outdoor facilities and 400 acre Drishane Castle lands, but with restricted entry numbers and all Government Covid-19 protocols in place.

But the trip to the Emerald Isle proved well worthwhile for Australian riders Kevin McNab and Bill Levett, who took the CCI4*-S and the CCI4*-L.

Bill won the CCI4*-L on board the nine-year-old Lates Quin, who also won the Open Intermediate at Somerford Park the week before. Bill has been carefully campaigning this horse towards CCI5* and it seems that all the hard work and patience is paying off

Bill and Lates Quin, owned by Elisabeth Murdoch, won on their dressage score of 36.2, moving up from sixth place after dressage to overtake the dressage leaders, Sofia Sjoborg riding DHI Mighty Dwight who finished in second place (40.2) while Kevin McNab riding Global Victory took third place (43.7)

Bill also took second place on Sligos Candy Cane in the CCI3*-L, won by Ireland’s Brian Morrison on Global Faerlie Flashy

It was Tokyo 2020 team silver medallist Kevin’s turn to take the honours in the CCI4*-S, not only winning the class on board Scuderia 1918 A Best Friend (29.7) but also taking second place on Willunga (30.7). Britain’s Willa Newton took third place on her talented young horse Cock A Doodle Doo

Kevin also took fifth place in the CCIYH2*-S riding Shanbeg To Differ
