Felicity Collins and RHS Contend Or may have been a little off the pace on a score of 32.5 in the dressage phase of the Advanced class at the Childeric Saddles Little Downham (1) Horse Trials on Friday but when the leader Oliver Townend withdrew Cooley Master Class after jumping a clear show jumping round and before cross country, as was always his plan, Felicity jumped into the lead with the fastest cross country of the day

Adding just 2.8 time penalties, the only time penalties of the class in single digits, Felicity and her 12-year-old German bred gelding took the win on 35.2 ahead of JP Sheffield riding Kiltar Obos (45.8) and Andrew James riding Celtic Morning Star (52.7)

Willa Newton will be cock-a-hoop about winning the Open Intermediate Section D on Cock A Doodle Do in a class bursting with big names and experienced horses, including Laura Collett’s Mr Bass in second place while Angus Smales riding Mount Corbitt Storm, Laura Collett riding Bling and Georgie Frow riding Max E Million won the three Intermediate sections

Australia's Kevin McNab and Scuderia 1918 Humphreys took third in the Intermediate Section C

Tom Jackson riding GFS Apollo and Max Warburton riding Kilnaboy Buffet both won the Open Novice sections on a day that saw three seasons, including a bit of winter flurries!

Check back tomorrow for an update on Saturday's action at Little Downham (1) plus our full report and cross country videos coming up next week .....
