Two riders recently returned from the World Championships at Pratoni 2022 – Kazuma Tomoto and Susie Berry – have taken wins in the CCI4*-S sections at Little Downham (3) International on Tuesday
Japan’s Kazuma Tomoto won the CCI4*-S riding the Japan Racing Association’s Brookpark Vikenti on a score of 45.1, after adding 15.2 time penalties to his dressage score of 29.9 for the win. Laura Collett and Dacapo produced the fastest cross country round (11.6 time penalties) on a course where no-one made the time, but a rolled pole in the show jumping relegated them to second place while Tom Rowland riding Possible Mission took third place
Susie Berry and Wellfields Lincoln
Ireland’s Susie Berry riding Wellfields Lincoln claimed the top spot in the CCI4*-S Section C on a score of 40.5, completing the cross country with just 8.4 time penalties on top of their dressage score of 32.1. Again it was the second placed rider, Hector Payne on board Dynasty who scorched around cross country with 7.6 time penalties, but four penalties in the show jumping saw Susie take the win while Mollie Summerland riding 5* winner Charly Van Ter Heiden finished in third place
Tom McEwen and Bob Chaplin
Susie also took second place in the Advanced Section A riding Clever Trick and this time it was her turn to be the fastest on cross country! But it was Tom McEwen who flanked her on both sides, taking first place on Bob Chaplin and third on Braveheart B
New Zealand bronze winning team members at Pratoni 2022, Tim and Jonelle Price were also at Little Downham with Jonelle picking up sixth and seventh places in the Advanced on board Grappa Nera and Kilbunny Andy while Tim riding Happy Boy started on a good score of 28 then had a stroll around cross country before they head to Boekelo next week
