Michael Jung has hot footed it from the Royal Horse Show in Toronto, Canada to Stuttgart to win yet another Eventing Indoor Derby at the Stuttgart German Masters on board Kilcandra Ocean Power
The nine-year-old gelding Kilcandra Ocean Power, who has been competing at 3* and 4* level this year, gave Michael his ninth victory at the Stuttgart Indoor Derby with the pair winning by a margin of nearly nine seconds (44.52 seconds)
Ireland’s Cathal Daniels, the last Stuttgart Masters winner in 2019 as the event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic, took second place on CDS Cairnview Romolu (53.43 seconds)
“It’s fantastic that the German Masters is taking place again and it’s a real pleasure to ride here,” said Michael “Thanks to my supporters, I’ve got fabulous horses at my disposal. Kilcandra Ocean Power gave me a wonderful feel today and was a great ride.”
Sweden’s Sofia Sjöborg took third on her 13-year-old KWPN gelding Eastbourne (53.64) while Ingrid Klimke riding Weisse Dune finished sixth (54.18)
Michael also tried his hand at the first ever equestrian triathlon on the opening evening but had to settle for third place. Riding Kilcandra Ocean Power again in the jumping part of the competition, the triathlon also tested the competitors in shooting and driving
German show jumping rider Marian Müller riding his grey stallion Silver Credit in the jumping phase topped the podium after showed his other skills in the shooting and manoeuvring the all-wheel drive vehicle around the cone obstacle course
