“All in all, it’s just been a great day” said Piggy March, Saturday’s winner of the CCI3*-S at Fairfax & Favor Rockingham International.
Riding the stallion Halo (previously Scuderia Humphreys ridden by Kevin McNab) who joined not only Piggy's competition team but also the March Stud breeding programme at Maidwell Lodge earlier in the year, Piggy moved ahead of dressage leaders Tom McEwen and Brookfield Braveheart, to take the win on their dressage score of 23.
Tom had to settle for second and fourth with Harry Mutch, on a bit of a roll at the moment, in third place on HD The One
Two of our favourite more ‘mature’ male riders also had a good day on Saturday with Australia’s Bill Levett winning the CCI2*-S on board the seven-year-old Brideview Master George and Ian Stark having a great run in the CCI3*.
The top five in this class all finished on their dressage scores but it was Bill that moved up from fourth after dressage to take the win on 25.7 ahead of Tom Rowland riding Honeybrook Extra Special and Will Rawlin riding The Dominator

Australia also had Sammi Birch in the placings, taking seventh place in this class on D’Alme D’Or
Ian Stark may not have had a win on Saturday, but he did qualify for the CCI3*-L at Blair Castle in August on board the Duchess of Devonshire’s Chatsworth Diamond. The 68-year-old Olympic, World Championship and European Championship medallist still enjoys competing, when his schedule as top-level course designer allows
However, he admits that “I still feel sick every time!” as he chats to Ruth Gregory at the end of his cross country ride. An inspiration for us all!
Our full wrap up from Rockingham coming later this week but don't forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for video snippets and more during the event too ...
