Paul Tapner is giving up the ‘day job’ in the saddle to concentrate on working in the corporate world for the Event Rider Masters Series (ERM)
Paul Tapner has told Horse & Hound that he is retiring from top level eventing to work for the company facilitating the Event Rider Masters Series which started operation this year
Paul missed out on selection for the Australian eventing team at Rio 2016 and, despite having a good team of horses currently in the stable has said that, in view of the fact that ‘the Australian selectors didn’t love me’ he feels that he should now focus on his professional career. In 2017 he will be working as the digital and technical manager for ERM
However he will not be hanging up his well-known red silks just yet, intending to continue eventing as ‘an elite-level amateur rider’ who will be ‘kicking around three and four-stars’
