Sadly, with just one cross country video team running in the UK this year, we were unable to film at the South of England (2) this year, one of our favourite events
But it was, as always, a great event with lots of big names attending the event run by Tim and Jenny Nolan, the brother and mum of Pippa Funnell, who took the top honours last weekend on board Billy Wonder
The nine-year-old Billy Wonder, owned by Pippa, her mum and Pippa’s long-time coach and friend Ruth McMullen, has not had many starts in this strange year but he won the Open Intermediate on a score of 32.9 thanks to one of the fastest cross country rides of the class, moving up from third (27.7) after the dressage.
New Zealand’s Sam Lissington led this class after the dressage on board Vitali with a score of 26.4 and Sarah Bullimore riding Starbucks was in second place (27.1) but both ladies had a rail down in the show jumping and took it slower on cross country
Tom Jackson, who trains with Pippa, won the Intermediate Section N riding Ask For Manchier and Ben Lee Liles riding Westceffyl Kingsdway Lad won the Intermediate Section O
Australia’s Kevin McNab and Scuderia 1918 Vivian took the Open Novice Section L
We’ll see you at the South of England again in 2021!
