Sir Mark Todd competing at his last ever event at Camphire, Ireland 2019
Sir Mark Todd will be making his racing debut as a jockey on Irish soil in the Event Riders Challenge Race at Dundalk Stadium on Wednesday April 15th
Having announced his emotional retirement from Eventing at Camphire International Horse Trials in Ireland last year, Sir Mark says that “I always had great fun Eventing in Ireland and I am very excited to have this opportunity to ride in the Event Riders Challenge Race at Dundalk Stadium supporting my mates in the Irish Team!”
His appearance back in the saddle next month in the Event Riders Challenge Race at Dundalk Stadium will help funds for the Irish High Performance Eventing squads and should encourage other riders to ‘step up to the Mark’
“Having Sir Mark taking part in the Event Riders Challenge is phenomenal” says Sally Corscadden, HSI’s High Performance Director “We need a total of 14 jockeys, whose sponsorship will raise funds for all the Eventing squads. To be racing against Mark in this unique event is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that should not be missed!”
Sir Mark Todd is not only an Olympic and World Championship gold medallist but has had his own training successes in horse racing with wins in the Wellington Cup and New Zealand Oaks however this will be his first time competing in a race as a jockey
