Storm Katie holds eventers at bay

Storm Katie has caused havoc across England and it wasn’t only those hoping to head out for a hack in the past 24 hours who were disappointed

The storm that has battered large parts of England leaving property damaged and thousands of people without power has also left some British eventing riders stranded in France as they attempted to return from the FEI Nations Cup in Fontainebleau

While some, such as Yorkshire’s Nicola Wilson, whose One Two Many finished ninth in the CICO3*, were able to take the Channel Tunnel when the storm caused ferries to be cancelled thanks to her lorry specifications meeting the requirements, Australia’s Bill Levett and Ireland’s Jonty Evans were not so lucky.

Ireland finished in bronze medal winning position in the CICO3* Nations Cup and hopefully Jonty treated himself to a celebratory drink when he eventually hopped on a plane, along with Bill, to return to the UK. Jonty and Bill are now back in the UK while their horses ride out the storm safely and will return home, no doubt having been well looked after by Bill’s supergroom Emily Littlejohn

Although the storm also caused delays to some flights we're pleased to advise that all video cameras and crew arrived safely at Heathrow on Monday and will be heading to Burnham Market for our first Cross Country video event of 2016 - more details coming soon ...........

The Easter bunnies protected the cameras flying into Heathrow!
