The Stud-Book Français Du Cheval Selle Français comes out on top but Tim Price's Happy Boy helps the The Netherland’s KWPN
The FEI WBFSH World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses at Le Mondial du Lion are not only competitions to discover the top talent of individual equine horses but also provide a platform for competition between the breeders and the breed societies, creating a strong incentive for the development of and progress within breeding societies and breeders
The scores from the three best placed (and registered) horses in either class are added together to decide the winner
In 2019 the Stud-Book Français Du Cheval Selle Français (ANSF) came out on top in the breeding rankings, thanks to second place in the 6YO Championship by Tom Carlile’s stallion Dartagnan Du Beliard, Nicolas Touzaint’s Demoisell Platine HDC (fourth in the 6YO) and Kitty King’s Cristal Fontaine, (sixth in the 7 YO). Their collective scores came to 93.8
The Irish Sport Horse Studbook (ISH) were close behind in second place on a score of 95.1, reversing the positions of the Studbooks last year when the ISH took the top spot and the ANSF came second. Their top scores came from Liz Halliday-Sharp riding Cooley Moonshine (second in the 7YO), Tom McEwen’s Brookfield Benjamin Bounce (third in the 7YO) and Jesse Campbell’s Global Candy Boy (seventh in the 6YO).
The Netherland’s KWPN – Koninklijk Warmbloed Paardenstamboek Nederland took third place with win for Tim Price’s Happy Boy in the 7YO, Yasmin Olsson-Sanderson and Inchello DHI (third in the 6YO) and Heidi Coy’s Halenza (10th in the 7YO), finishing on a total of 97.7
