When we discovered that Australian eventing legend Andrew Hoy used An Eventful Life cross country videos to review his past cross country rounds to help prepare for the coming season, we had to ask if he would talk us through one of his rides
The seven-time Olympian that has won three Olympic gold medals and one Olympic silver medal was kind enough to oblige and here is the result of his input and a bit of video magic!
We filmed Andrew , along with all other competitors, on cross country video at Osberton International in October 2017 where he rode a talented young eight year old grey horse, Basmati, in the CCI2*.
The Trakehner gelding Basmati joined Andrew’s team in June 2015 from Elmar Lesch´s renowned Top Eventers yard in Germany. He has since competed up to 2* level and Andrew says he is “A young horse with a great foundation, wonderful gaits and a lovely attitude. His owners, long term supporters and very dear friends John and Louise Ayre and I are delighted to have him with us and we look forward to an exciting future with him! In 2018, we will introduce him to 3* level”
With Andrew aiming to make it eight Olympic Games in Tokyo, this horse could be a serious contender – sit back, enjoy and learn .......
