Following the update from British Eventing on the resumption of competitive sport from 4th July, Musketeer Event Management has advised that the Barbury Castle Horse Trials, scheduled to run from the 2nd – 5th July, will hopefully be able to happen ‘in some format’
The event, which would normally run CCI3* and CCI4* classes in addition to National level, is aiming to run two days of classes at Novice and Intermediate levels on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July
“Everyone onsite will be required to adhere to social distancing regulations at all times, and we will have measures in place to minimise risk and reduce contact” says Musketeer on their Facebook page
“The courses will be designed reflecting the current situation and that Barbury will be the first run for some time, if not the first run of the season for many horses. We will also work with the correct machinery to prepare the ground as best as we are able - as well as celebrating the much-needed rain which is creeping into our forecast!”
There will be no International Eventing classes, no additional classes such as Arena Eventing or Pony Club Show jumping, and there will also be limited or no trade stands. The event will also not be open to members of the public.
All tickets bought through the box office for 2020 will be automatically refunded and the provisional dates for next year’s full event are Thursday 8th to Sunday 11th July 2021.
